5 Marseille-based brands to keep a close eye on

Jun 18, 2025 | Brands, Fashion

Curtain call for the first edition of Slow Fashion Week in Marseille. A perfect moment to look back and most importantly, take note of five emerging labels shaping a more responsible, inventive, and unmistakably Marseillaise approach to fashion.

Atelier Regain : When upcycling goes hand in hand with social commitment

Founded in 2021, Atelier Regain is much more than an eco-conscious fashion label; it’s the upcycling studio of Frip’Insertion, a branch of Emmaüs.

At the heart of its workshop, reclaimed fabrics, denim, wool blankets, and other textiles are transformed into one-of-a-kind pieces, from clothing to accessories. But what genuinely sets it apart is the team behind the creations: seamstresses on reintegration programs, once distanced from the job market, who are now gaining valuable skills and a renewed professional outlook.

Atelier Regain doesn’t stop there: the studio also runs sewing workshops and awareness sessions, inviting the public to rethink their textile consumption. During Marseille’s Slow Fashion Week, it even partnered with Agnès B., the event’s patron. The result? A brand deeply rooted in its local community, proving that in Marseille, style, ethics, and social impact can go hand in hand.

Captcha Lab, the textile workshop

Based in Marseille, Captcha Lab, founded by Charlotte Denner stands out as a creative laboratory at the crossroads of craftsmanship and textile research. The brand champions conscious production, breaking away from industrial norms. Each piece is made to order, using deadstock fabrics or second-hand garments that are completely deconstructed and reimagined.

At Captcha Lab, nothing is left to chance: clothing becomes a space for organic experimentation, conceived as a living, ever-evolving, one-of-a-kind object. In her Marseille studio, Charlotte creates sculptural yet wearable pieces that blend function with poetry. Among her signature creations: oversized flap trousers, cut-out or hooded tops that play with body lines, and a reimagined market tote turned fashion accessory. The brand also extends its experimental aesthetic to jewelry, including a standout oyster necklace with a design as organic as it is unexpected.

More than just a label, Captcha Lab is a manifesto for futuristic, conscious fashion.

Capobianco, Raw and delicate jewelry

At the crossroads of craftsmanship, family memory, and urban aesthetics, Capobianco embodies a new generation of Marseille-based designers. Trained in jewelry-making after a stint in the luxury sector, Juliette Moutte creates one-of-a-kind pieces using recycled silver and found elements, which she melts down and reworks in her studio-boutique in the city’s 5th district.

Each collection draws inspiration from Marseille, its industrial wastelands, wild scrubland, and sun-drenched alleyways; giving rise to jewelry that feels both raw and poetic. Capobianco breaks away from traditional jewelry codes with freeform, organic shapes.

Committed to a responsible approach, the brand offers limited editions produced locally, with a clear focus on upcycling. Firmly rooted in Marseille yet open to collaborations, Capobianco is part of a thriving creative ecosystem reshaping the city. A hidden gem worth (re)discovering, where bold design meets true craftsmanship.

Maison Mascarello, artful earrings

A new arrival on Marseille’s creative scene, Mascarello designs one-of-a-kind bags using locally sourced reclaimed materials, including leather offcuts and deadstock from regional artisans and La Réserve des Arts Sud.

Conceived as hybrid objects between design and craftsmanship, Mascarello bags stand out with their rounded lines and distinctive details. The sculptural buckles, created in collaboration with Marseille-based designer Mélissa Mariller, add a bold touch to accessories that instantly catch the eye.

Merging circular design with a bold aesthetic, Maison Mascarello brings a breath of fresh air to Marseille’s creative scene and looks set to make waves in the capital too.

Salé, between land and sea

Born in 2021 from a desire to bring meaning back to fashion, Salé is a committed Marseille-based brand rooted in upcycling. Founded by Lucie Grézaud, a former collaborator of Parisian couture houses, the label reimagines abandoned garments and textiles to give them a second life.

Here, each piece is unique. The result of artisanal skill and a responsible approach. But Lucie doesn’t stop at creating she also shares her passion through participatory workshops, guided tours of Marseille’s thrift stores, and even team-building sessions centered around sustainable fashion.

By blending creativity, local commitment, and consumer education, Salé embodies a new way of thinking about clothing, one that appeals to fashion lovers and eco-conscious minds as well.
