Air Max Verona: trainers inspired by the tennis player Naomi Osaka

Nike seems to have got a headstart on this Sunday’s International Women’s Day with the release of a pair of sneakers exclusively for women: the Air Max Verona.

1992 saw Nike launch its first Air Max trainers for women: the Air Verona. Almost 30 years have passed and they’ve been given a show-stopping makeover to style up our feet. The Air Max Verona’s big comeback has seen it borrow from cult models and pull on a strong look halfway between the Air Max 90 and Aix Max 200.

This savvy combo has produced hybrid sneakers that are all about comfort: chunky sole, XXL air cushioning, lifted foam heel and padded collar. The pair designed for women are inspired by the dazzling Haitian-Japanese tennis player Naomi Osaka who won the Australian Open when she was just 20 and won the hearts of the public.

The trainers’ flashy colours (Plum Chalk/Ghost/Oracle Pink/Black), soft leather and textured fabric were an instant hit with the Sneaker Spirit editorial team and have put them among our favourites for this season. Girls, you’re going to turn the guys green with envy in these shoes.
