The Euro is coming to an end and it’s now the Tokyo Olympic Games that will keep sports fans busy this summer. As part of its collection dedicated to the Games, Nike SB collaborates with the skate shop FTC to present a Dunk Low in the colours of the mythical baths of the city.

For almost 10 years now, Nike has trusted FTC, an iconic skate shop in San Francisco, to revisit some of its historical SB models. And what better way to celebrate the arrival of skateboarding in the Olympic Games than to redesign the mythical pair of skateboarding Nike SB: the Dunk Low.

The American shop has put the emphasis on colour for this new model that pays tribute to one of the oldest Japanese traditions: the Sento (Japanese baths). The suede upper is naturally adorned with a bright lagoon blue, which is also applied to the outsole and the tongue. The heel and leather inserts imitate the immaculate white tiles of Tokyo’s public baths. While the textural play is effective, the careful detailing of the pair’s collar is worth a look. The bright yellow terry cloth material, reminiscent of towels, underlines the features of a model that is as stylish as it is comfortable.

While FTC’s American signature is on the tongue of the heel, the Japanese Kanji’s are on the inside of this Dunk Low. A little bonus: a nice silver swoosh goes around the model, enough to attract all eyes. The most observant will also have noticed the representation of Mount Fuji at sunrise on the insole.

Between Japan and the US, tradition and modernity, this Dunk Low celebrates the Olympic Games’ entry into a new era of skateboarding and style. This Dunk Low signed by FTC and Nike SB will be available from July 9th on the Nike SNKRS app.
